Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about surveys, scheduling, and what to expect—answered in one place so you can arrive at the
dock prepared.

Do I need a survey for a newer vessel?

Yes. Even late-model vessels can have factory issues, transport damage, or installation problems from added
equipment. A survey helps verify condition and provides documentation for your insurer or lender.

Can I attend the survey?

In most cases, yes—and it can be helpful to do so. Many clients choose to be present for the beginning and
end of the survey while allowing uninterrupted time during the core inspection.

How long does a survey take?

Most single-vessel surveys range from several hours to a full day depending on length, complexity, and whether
a haul-out and sea trial are included. The written report is delivered after the on-site work is complete.

Who arranges and pays for the haul-out?

Haul-outs are typically scheduled and paid for directly by the buyer or owner with the yard. Anchorpoint can
coordinate timing where needed but does not bill for yard services.

Will the survey guarantee that nothing will ever fail?

No survey can be a warranty or guarantee. The goal is to provide a professional opinion of the vessel’s
condition on the day of inspection based on what is accessible and visible without destructive testing.

What information do you need to provide a quote?

Please share the vessel make, model, length, year, location, desired survey type, and any specific concerns
you have. You can send these details through the contact form.
